Where do you go to see the greatest bird spectacle on earth? The Kenya Lake System in the Great Rift Valley! Come at the right time and you’ll see the shoreline of Kenya’s lakes turn bright pink as they’re filled with millions of flamingos. The lesser flamingos gather at these lakes to feed on the abundant blue-green algae which thrive in the alkaline waters. UNESCO calls it ” the single most important foraging site for the lesser flamingo anywhere.”
“To witness a concentration of birds like this is, without a doubt, one of the greatest ornithological experiences in the world. There is constant movement of pink as birds move about the lake in search of food or disturbance by predators. It truly is an enjoyably overwhelming wildlife experience.”

The best place to see large numbers of flamingo is either Lake Nakuru or Lake Bogoria in Kenya ,however the flamingos of East Africa move between several widely separated lakes depending on food availability. It is therefore very much a matter of luck to see a huge concentration like that in these pictures !

Flamingos are threatened species due to their very specific feeding and breeding requirements , what Martin wants is to get people aware of this truly incredible species and he hopes to put pressure on governments to protect their habitat.

How to Stay Awake!
Whether you partied all night, had a sexy night , or lost sleep while finishing up a project, now you’re at work and you’re having a difficult time staying awake! if you could just make it through the day without being discovered by your boss… teacher.. with your eyes closed.

Smell ! A strong scent, good or bad, can make you more alert very quickly. Aromatherapists often recommend essential oils of the following plants to stimulate the nervous system and reduce fatigue (open the bottle and take a big whiff when you’re feeling drowsy)
- Rosemary
- Eucalyptus blue gum.
- Peppermint (a study showed that smelling peppermint can lower fatigue by 15%, increase alertness by 30% and decrease frustration by 25%.) so eat it !!
- Coffee (beans or brewed, study has shown that simply smelling coffee can awaken a person)
- Scots pine oil.
– You can find some at the grocery or use even a hand lotion with that smell ! it does works !
Massage yourself ! at any of the following points will improve circulation and ease fatigue…- Top of your head (lightly tap with your fingertip) .
- Top of the back of your neck.
- Back of your hands (between thumb and index finger) .
- Just below the knees.
- Earlobes
Drink coffee ! Just do it
Chew Ice ! If you chew ice, you will never fall asleep. The ice chilling the brain keeps it on its toes, even while you are driving late at night and are exhausted and what you really want to do is fall asleep
Keep yourself uncomfortable : (
Stay on your feet as much as possible. If you have to sit down, get the most uncomfortable chair you can find. Try not to sit in anything that will make you sore if you stay there. Make sure the back is upright, forcing you to sit up very straight. Don’t allow your head to rest on anything–your hands, the desk, the wall.
Stay cold : ( If it’s a little cold, take off your sweater or jacket so you stay on the chilly side. Open a window or put on a small fan, pointed at your face.
Only ’cause sometimes we can’t get fired .. we can’t miss that lesson that will be on the test for sure ! c’est la vie ouias … enjoy it !
